RAC limited (The RAC) formerly known as The Royal Automobile Club founded in 1897, is a British automotive services company that provides key services such as roadside assistance and general insurance. RAC found its roots in providing roadside assistance to its members of The Royal Automobile Club.
The RAC is the oldest breakdown provider still operating in the United Kingdom. There are few other breakdown providers to issue excellent breakdown assistance to customers.

The RAC have their own fleet of breakdown recovery vehicles and patrols and, as standard, every RAC van carries more than 500 parts and tools which patrols use to get members’ vehicles going again as quickly as possible. How much is RAC membership?
Roadside cover starts from £5.49 per month^. The RAC offers different cover levels including, Roadside, Roadside & Recovery and Roadside, Recovery and At Home, these prices can vary depending on any add on’s you may require e.g. onward travel. These prices may vary depending on when you purchase (Last updated on 15/10/2024).

Is RAC breakdown 24 hours?
The phone lines are open 24/7. For existing members, the easiest way to report a breakdown is online.
Does the RAC fix your car?
Yes, if you are a member and you have broken down on the roadside, RAC patrols are equipped to fix your car, when it is possible to do so. The RAC fix 4 out of 5 cars at the roadside.
They carry a range of tools to deal with issues surrounding common roadside fixes such as a multi-fit wheel, batteries, tyres, a trolley jack, a battery tester and more. If the RAC can’t fix your car at the roadside, they will recover your vehicle to a garage or to your home depending on your cover level and what’s included in your policy.
Does the RAC have an app?
Yes, the RAC has an app called ‘myRAC’ you can download it from the website rac.co.uk/myrac. By entering your email address into the app, an activation code will be sent to you, type this code into the app and you will be all set.
